What started as a pipe dream has become so much more.
With a world tour under-way host Colt West put everything on hold for the opportunity to have his own variety show.
"None of this would have happened if I didn’t meet you where and when I did. Back in 98. I had lost my job at the electric company, which was a shock. I was the top salesman rep of the whole company. I was selling electricity to hospitals, banks, you name it. One day my boss comes in and just tells me “You’re fired.” There was nothing I could do, they replaced me with someone who was half my age and would accept half the salary. My boss said he had more “stamina” than I did. Down on my luck, I’m walking the streets of Pittsburgh and then I spotted this Comedy Store owned by none other than Ernest. I walked in and was immediately greeted by an excited ERNEST, he said I was the first customer he’s seen in months. He immediately starts talking my ear off telling me that he served in the war and went to clown college in France. Yeah, this guy has seen it all. I ended up being there for hours. My girlfriend at the time was pissed. I bet she wishes she stayed with me now huh, Karen? I didn’t know ole Ernie and I would make it all the way here, but I’d say it was worth it."
